Merry Christmas

It's always so fun to have a beautiful sunny day in St. George to celebrate Christmas and play with the new toys, roller blades, airsoft guns, etc. and then drive just 30 minutes to PineValley for fun in the snow. Snowy enough for sledding, but totally clear roads- just perfect. Then back home again to play Wii until the Wii hours of the morning!!!

How many people can cram into the cabin's little kitchen???

The kid's little cabin looks so cute out in the snow!!
A new coleman stove for Grandpa- hopefully it lasts as many decades as the last one!!
This looks like Christmas- Home Sweet Cabin!

Adam and Holly's new home

It has been so fun to see Adam and Holly's new house become a home!! It it being transformed from a neglected foreclosure to a beautiful home. They have repainted, torn out dead plants, replanted grass, moved tons of flagstone and gravel and built landscaping walls for flowerbeds. It has three bedrooms and a craft room, a LARGE family room, dining room and kitchen. I love the covered patio and totally fenced backyard.

29th "ANGELIC" Anniversary Get Away

For our 29th anniversary, we decided to go back to where we first were SUPPOSED to honeymoon, which was Zion National Park. However, 29 years ago, Kent didn't make reservations, so...... we actually stayed in the ever so romantic, Hurricane, Utah!#*(* We almost didn't make it this time for my dad had just got out of the hospital from emergency brain surgery the day before. I needed a break, but a STEEP hike wasn't exactly the break I had in mind. But, I contemplated the beauty of hiking Angels Landing and what would my dad do right now if he could, and that's how I ended up on top of the ridge.

He did this just to freak me out. This section wasn't too scary, but it soon turned to a much steeper drop off.

I tried to take a picture of the switchbacks named "Walter's Wiggles" when we hiked them, but couldn't get a good shot. This sign shows them best.

I thought going up these steep trails was hard, but my knees told me that they didn't like the downward trek either!!

Our lodge room was great and it truly was a beautiful November day with great weather. I had a bad cold as well and so simply breathing was a chore, let alone climbing STRAIGHT up. We FINALLY made it to Scouts Landing and then we got into the ridge area which is quite treacherous with chains to keep you safe. I went part way up but then decided that I would sit out the last part of the ridge and watch Kent trudge towards the top. I had a couple of cute little chipmunks wait it out with me, actually getting into my pack, standing on my hand, and begging for Reese's pieces. The above picture was taken from my "safe spot" which was also a great view, with fun, furry little companions!

It was a great day and did give me the much needed pick me up!!

The view from our lodge balcony. It was a very nice, relaxing room. A beautiful night to watch the moon come up.

We love Fall

Kent really loves Fall and loves the colors. I am a bit color blind so they have to be really intense for me to see the reds and oranges, while the yellows really glow for me. Kent grew up back East and craves the vibrant reds and oranges. We usually go out Conference weekends to look at the leaves but often find we are far too early, or in this case, a little too late. It was just the two of us since Nicole was in Salt Lake with Conference tickets. Trent was working and Adam was doing yard work on his new house.

While it was a bit late, the cool, crisp air felt great and we took our KFC picnic up to Yankee Meadow up Parowan Canyon. While there were some pretty views, we were a bit late. The temperature in St. George was 81, but it was 41 at 3 pm at Cedar Breaks as we continued on up over the mountain to return to St. George.

While my eyes could see the golds and yellows so brillaintly, my camera can't seem to see those at all. While the orange and red do show up in the camera, it doesn't seem true. It was a cloudy day, so the colors aren't glistening in the sun, but it is still a beautiful time of year.
